PS from Matusik:  Figures released this week - housing price index down 1.8% on a weighted average for Australia's capitals in the Sept quarter - a far cry from 40%.  

Compact apartments lure Gen Y buyers

Smaller, not bigger, apartments could hlep to address an undersupplied section of the property market, according to a leading real estate analyst.  Michael Matusik said thre was a large and growing segment of the market who would be comfortably accommodated in apartments under 50sq m.  The Courier-Mail, 8-9 November 2008
